THE 3RD GLOBAL CONGRESS ON NEW AND EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES TAKES SHAPE: …..HERE IS A SNEAK PEEK OF THE PROGRAMME

Under the theme “Advancing responsible genetic biocontrol innovations to improve animal and public health, strengthen vector control and protect ecosystems,” the 3rd Global Congress on New and Emerging Biocontrol technologies is taking shape. The Congress will be held in Nairobi, from March 15-18, 2027. Four key themes are planned, including high impact congress sessions.

Founder and Chairman of the African Genetic Biocontrol Consortium Dr. Willy Tonui says the unique Congress will focus exclusively on the topic of genetic biocontrol and will serve to encourage cooperation, collaboration, communication and new and exciting science at a time when new technologies such as gene drive and Wolbachia-induced cytoplasmic incompatibility are being developed.

The four day Congress will combine:

• Welcome, orientation, and global networking breakfast
• Technical expert roundtables
• Stakeholder and regional consultation
• Commitments and action-planning forum

This is in line with the mandate of the Africa Genetic Biocontrol Consortium (the Consortium). It was established as an agreement among member organizations committed to the mission and goals to contribute to expanding African self-determination of the course of research, development, and use of genetic biocontrol approaches for controlling and eliminating malaria and other vector-borne diseases in Africa.

The secretariat has been receiving abstracts from professionals spread across the globe. The deadline to submit abstracts is Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
